Color Corrector Primer?

Can someone give a short tutorial on how to use the Color Corrector effect? I can brute force trial and error clicking around on all of the wheels until the color looks a little more reasonable. But the results are less than successful. I have yet to figure out what to use the eye droppers for, but I assume they are there for a reason.l I'm probably asking for too much, but here's a scenario: I have similar shots from two cameras; in one shot a dress is red, and in the shot from the other camera it's more magenta. Is there a systematic way to tell the color corrector that the magenta dress ought to be the red from other shot? I guess I'm lookng for a "color matching" technique.

What is the 'best practices' way of using this effect to color correct?

Thanks.

Small moves! Very important!

You can also do a "search" here and find a link to the color correction tutorial on BillyBoy's site.

Better yet, go get the CMP DV Master Series book entitled Color Correction for Digital Video.

It'll explain ALL you want to know about the history, theory, and method of color correction. On top of that, it dedicates many chapters explaining how to use a waveform monitor and vectorscope to get accurate color correction.
