Colored back drop for text

How can I make a small colored rectangle which is the background of my text? I can make one with the solid color and get it to the correct size but, then cannot move it to where I desire.
I used Pan/Crop screen to resize with the solid color on the lower track of course.

Track motion.

You might also want to try playing with the cookie cutter instead of using pan/crop and track motion. You can choose a variety of shapes and sizes and feathering and move it around at will, all in one tool.
