Colour gradient problem

Derm wrote on 8/9/2009, 8:06 AM
I have created a colour gradient in Vegas pro 9 and am using the preset "Elliptical Transparent to Black". The project settings are 720x576 and the gradient is also this size.
There are photos (jpegs) under the gradient so you get a vignette effect. Everything is fine until I render. The end result shows areas at the top and bottom of the video that are not covered by the gradient. i am rendering using the"keep project settings" for video size. I have enlarged the gradient size to expand over all of the video but it keeps rendering with parts of the images not covered by the vignette.
I have played with this for 2 days now and cant get it right. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Derm

I suggest that you explicitly keep your project settings and render settings exactly the same so that there are no surprises when you render. Otherwise you may see masking problems like you are encountering. I don't know where the "keep project settings" option is but I would be explicit. Vegas has templates that match perfectly so you could not have to do anything custom; just select the same template for both project and render.

Thanks for the input Johnny. The project is 720x576 and the mask is 720x576. In this instance I am rendering to wmv and this size is not one of the templates and so I have the option to select "keep project size" or use custom size. So I have manually entered 720x576 in the boxes and i am still getting the same masking problems. I'm not ruling out pilot error here but I cant see where I am going wrong.

are the pixel aspects the same, wmv I think defaults to 1.0 square, that could be the issue,
