Combine 16:9 & 4:3

I mainly shoot in 16:9 when using my camcorder. However, there are times when I'd like to combine 16:9 and 4:3 (video from a still camera) using VMS 8. What is the best approach to convert 4:3 to 16:9.

I do it all the time. I simply use the 'pan and crop' 16:9 preset on each video event. You can see an example here, shot with the canon a590 is:

Where is the "16:9 preset" you refer to.

It's in the pan/crop window. There's a pulldown menu at the top of the window.

Personally, as long as your project properties are set to the format you want, i prefer to right-mouse-button click inside the cropping frame and choose 'match output aspect'. That matches your project perfectly while the 16:9 preset might not.
