combining project files

I am trying to import a project file into another project which has the same source media files. I can not open both in the same project. Nor can I view the first project file as my source media are now being used by the new project. Any assistance most appreciated...

having media used in multiple projects should not be a problem. What is actually the problem? Do you get an error message or something? I have lots of projects using the same media files and I have no problems.

The question of "importing a project into another project" has a simple answer. You cannot do it.

This is a common question on the forum and I am sure with a little searching you will find numerous posts here that go into the details of how we all cope with this. The primary answer is that Vegas allows you to open multiple instances.. using this feature you can open one project and copy events from one to another. It is not the most elegant of solutions... but it works OK.
