Comedy of errors continue!

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse...

OK, I rendered my audio track to A3-C. I go through the nonsense of stepping through each sub menu and replace the MPEG-2 audio with the new A3-C audio. I hit preview to test and the audio quality is pure crap! It sputters, stalls, cracks, fades in and out and is totally useless.

So I click on Optimize again. The old file I replaced is still incorrectly listed there and the new replacement file isn't listed at all. How pitfull. This version has more holes in it than a pound of Swiss cheese. The more I use it, the more bugs I find.

Where are all the the SoFo guys? Hiding? I don't blame them, I'd be hiding too instead of trying to defend this awful release.

SF guys aren't hiding, and in fact we are extremely interested in user feedback, as always. YES, there are some bugs in this app- same with every other app I have ever run. Bugs suck, we hate them, and as you know, we make a big effort to fix our bugs in a timely manner.

We plan on posting an update in the next few days that will resolve many issues first reported right here, in this forum. Thanks to all who helped us test this forthcoming update. For those who asked to test and didn't hear back- either the test period was closed or the bug you mentioned was verified as fixed by another external tester, or it wasn't a bug in the app.

Finally, DVDA, like Vegas, is not and will never be a clone of some other app. So there may be a learning curve, especially if you have lots of experience with some 3rd party app. As with Vegas, once you learn how to use DVDA, we think you'll like it. And since our apps are continuously evolving, we are counting on our users to send us feature requests, bug reports, and, hopefully once in awhile your killer finished projects on DVD.

I have used a great deal of software for graphics and audio applications.
And SOFO have to be one of the best companies for releasing stable products with quick responses to fixing bugs.
Bugs appear in all software, especially in the first version.
Its the nature of the beast!
With the multitude of different hardware configurations that exist on the PC platform, combined with the complexity of DVD authoring techniques, I regard DVDA has a superb first release!
I am sure that the update will fix 95% of the problems raised.
As SOFO makes clear, this is not just some clone of the many other packages available, but a completly new approach, written from the ground up.
Yes there are some things in DVDA that annoy me.
There are features in every software program that I use that annoy me. Thats life!
But if you let SOFO know what these are, and they agree, they usually listen to this feedback, and make the changes needed.
Usually, software providers insist on giving you what they think is best!
So, I would suggest that a comprehensive reading of the manual and a polite enquiry to SOFO on any problems you may be experiencing will produce a far better response, than adopting a hostile approach.
Congratulations to the SOFO support guys, who show a great ability to exercise restraint, when faced with frustrated and emotional end users.
