Command Line Rendering

Hi all,

I recently bought Vegas Movie Studio and have created first NTSC DVD.
I need to create another version of same DVD in PAL.

Do I HAVE TO render the AVI file in PAL again ?

It appears that rendering in PAL is taking much longer compared to NTSC.

Is there any way I can create a BAT file and use command line to render the AVI files in NTSC/PAL so that I can keep this running overnight or while PC is free during day ?

I have about 10 DVDs to make in both versions. At least if I can automate the process for unattended execution it will help me big time.

I used Roxio before and I think it used to convert AVI to MPEG on fly while creating DVD. I thought prerendering will make burining DVD much faster in DVD Architect but it appears to take lot of time (3-4 hours for 4G DVD)

Thanks in Advance

Converting from NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC is always going to be a slow process.

Why can't you let it run overnight with the way you're rendering now? Just let it keep going and it will continue rendering. You can still use your computer for other tasks while the rendering continues. My preferred method is to set Vegas' priority to "below normal" while it is rendering and then other programs run as if Vegas wasn't there in the background.

You only have to render and prepare once for each DVD format. After that you can burn as many copies as you like without addition rendering or preparing.

DVD Architect can also convert AVI to MPEG on the fly, but it's not any faster than doing it in Vegas.

By rendering in Vegas, I'm not converting from AVI to NTSC or PAL ?

I don't mind letting it run overnight or even 24/7. It's just that I want to if this process can be automated so that I don't have to load each project, select "Render As" menu option, chosse setting and let it run.

BTW, it took 9 hours 15 minutes to render 40 minute AVI file in PAL.
Not even AntiVirus and Firewall were running. (I had also disable the network connection). I did not note down exact time but it took less than half of that time for rendering same AVI file in NTSC.

Well, now that you have a copy in NTSC and a copy in PAL, why don't you just burn copies from those and be done with it? I guess I am missing where this process needs to be automated as from what I understand of your post, you have accomplished what you were trying to do and you would save yourself 13 hours of rendering for each copy in NTSC and PAL.

If you have more projects that are similar, just go in and build them, render as and let it go overnight. The next day do the same for the other and then burn your copies from those. That is automated enough right?
