This is beginning to look like a Vegas problem. To check if the codecs are installed, launch Vdub64. Once opened, enter Ctrl-P, which will bring up the dialog showing all compressors that are installed. It will look like this.
Your display of Video for Windows codecs only shows the native ones installed as part of Vegas. Missiing is UtVideo which is always installed as part of HOS and shows up in Vdub.
@wwaag thanks. In Vdub64, everything seems to appear correctly. It's in the Vegas "Render As" option window that they don't appear. Including UtVideo in the Video for Windows.
@wwaag thanks for the screenshot of the encoder settings, I think I know what the problem is, if you select an HEVC encoder from the dropdown list in render+ simple mode, it never works, but if I go into the advanced mode as your screen shot shows, and select a HEVC as your screenshot or any other HEVC encoder, it works OK.
I assume that the simple selection settings are not properly translated to the proper ffmpeg command line for HEVC...
Just another question, is 10bit HEVC nvenc any better?
Yes. The simple mode is only a few avc presets. Use of Advanced mode is always recommended which gives you all of the encoding options.
"is 10bit HEVC nvenc any better?" In all honesty, I have no idea since I never use it probably since I don't have much 10bit source material, only Hero11 clips. For final renders, I always use x264. While nvenc is faster, it requires a much higher bitrate to achieve the same quality level.
@wwaag DR works on some clips, but not on all clips, at the second pass, I get: Oops! The following error has occurred: input string was not in the correct format.
I have send error report, and send you a link to a clip with those type of errors via PM. the clips that do work, are from the same camera and are the same media type. Only the contend differs, I noticed that the clips that fail have significantly fewer tracking points than those that work, e.g. a lot of empty sky...
Update: DR error fixed by disabling turbo option during pass 1
I´m new into editing video software, I recently bought vegas 21. I search for a solution to integrate 3rd Party assets apart from only loading one by one .cube file -> leading to endless lists via the color grading panel (or the LUT option) and without optional preview function of the effects. I´m really disappointed that Vegas doesn´t have the Option like Premiere od Davince seem to easily have.
Is this Happy Otter tool a thing to provide Folder structures for such things or... perhaps does anybody know a solution for that?
No, it doesn't. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any other 3rd party app that does this. However, that would seem extremely useful since testing luts, for example, requires entry of the filepath one by one as you say which is really time-consuming.
3D LUT Creator had a way to do this, but it doesn't seem that you can no longer download a Windows version. I do have an old version, but it doesn't work in VP21.
@Reyfox@wwaag Be careful with that plugin, 3D Lut Creator OFX plugin. The one I downloaded from the Russian website contained a virus. It modified dozens of places where Windows Defender Antivirus resides. Make sure to run SFC and DISM to check if your system was modified. I couldn't fix the mess that it made, so I had to reinstall Windows 10 or 11 (I don't remember which). I notified Magix about this.

You can get a working link if you create an account and 'buy' the free OFX (this differs from the link provided by the Product pages, which gives the 404 error). And it is the latest version (only released very recently). All sounds good - but actually crashes VP21 the moment you try to add it to a track.
It does, however, appear to work fine in Vegas Effects
I just ordered HOS through PayPal, but I hit the wrong purchase button. My intent was to order only AudioSyncR. I can find no way to reverse the PayPal payment (this isn't a "dispute, just a correction.) and cancel the order, then purchase what I originally wanted.
I did receive an email with a serial number, but so far I've seen no link to download the software.
I have canon xf605 and I record 4k onto sd card A and a proxy on sd card B. I have saved them in two folders. The filenames are the same put the proxies have a _P suffix before the file extension. Is there a script for being able to batch replace {filename} with {filename}_p? And then for rendering have a reversal script?
If you already have HOS, you can use the MediaReplacer tool. Here's a screengrab showing replacement of {filename} being replaced by files in another folder with {filename_p). Or you could go the other way.
If you don't have HOS, you could use any file renaming app to simply eliminate the "_p" in each of the proxy files and then use the Vegas "Swap Video Files" tool which can be found in the context menu when you select any file in the Project Media tab.
I thought I should post this here instead of submitting it officially, to see if anyone else can repro.
Latest version of V21 and HOS.
I am getting instant CTD when running either of the HOS text tools, (Speech to text / text Assist). As soon I click the relevant icon on the Otter Bar, there is slight pause and then Vegas disappears.
The file I am working on is less than a minute long with a simple video + 1 audio track and few crossfades.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help trace it.
