Compatible DVD drives?

What's the best DVD burner to buy? Is anyone here successfully using any of the newest DVD burners which are compatible with all the formats (+/-R, +/-RW, etc.)? I'd like to use an external (portable between machines) device, probably firewire. I want to be sure it's completely compatible with Vegas+DVD before I buy. It would be nice to know too, whether or not it's also compatible with other major software.

Most advice I've seen says to get either Sony's latest dual media (+R, -R) burner or the Pioneer A06, which is also dual media. I have the Pioneer A05 (DVD-R,-RW only) and have been totally happy with it. It has been absolutely flawless in every way.

Thanks for the reply! I was thinking of getting one or the other of those two, but just would like to hear from someone who has actually used either one with Vegas+DVD (since neither drive is on the list of tested compatible peripherals). Know anyone who has?

Despite many people having problems with the Sony DRX-510UL being compatible with Vegas+DVD, I have had absolutley no problems with it. So far I have burned about 20 successful DVD's and I even use all of the Veritas software that came along with it. BTW, I use the USB 2.0 option for connectivity and have been very happy with it so far!

I have used both the Pioneer A04/104 and the Pioneer A05/105. Both have worked flawlessly with DVDA. I use Fuji or Verbatim media and I am running W98SE.

I hear the least complaints across the net about Pioneer drivers.
