Complication

Bare with me because this gets heavy. I want to be able to phase run my video on a timeline and have other video splice in under the same audio. So the audio is already seperate from the video. The person in the video starts talking, but as we all know watching some flap their gums gets boring so i want to easily splice in shots of maybe the persons foot tapping the floor or their thumbs twiddling. This creates a more proffessional finish to a piece. If you understand what the heck I'm talking about (hahah) please help me out and tell me how it can be done easily.

Just add the short clips to the video track above your main video track. They will take precedence over the main video track.

there is a lot of help on compositing in this forum - as well as others. I believe all you need to do is drag your insertion video above your primary, fade out the primary where you want - if there is audio on the other clip just mute it or cut it out. You can cut and paste the video with transitions on the same line if you want but its a little more work. Insert some envelopes -and if you need to just right click the video>group>ungroup - to separate the audio and video. The whole thing should be just a few clicks for you to do.

if you search this forum keyword "composite" you should find a ton of info

good luck

Oh, the overlay thing does work, I feel like a goof. I swear, before the overlay thing didn't seem to be working properly. Well, thank you all for your help and have a great day/night!
