Compositing FX Tool Kits

Does anyone know where I could get some special effects like explosions, smoke and what not, I already have action essentials, and do not wish to purcahse any digital juice stuff, also I have checked the Vegas pro editors website, and their kit hasnt been released yet. I am looking to do a short film with some cool effects for my class and have little time to get it done, but need some fresh tools. Thanks

Detonation Films has some neat free stuff: here

I've been making my own in Blender with particles. Nothing special yet but I'm getting a better grasp on how to use the particle system for effects.

Check out the free offerings at Detonation Films.
The paid stuff isn't very expensive so that's another option for you.

I was going to wait for Vegas Pro Editors to release their compositor tool kit because it looks like it has very interesting stuff, but of course my project is due next week, but I will go to detonators website and check it out.

Have you considered particleIllusion? I use it and it's great.

The main page may lead you to believe that it's just for AfterEffects. This isn't true - it is a standalone program as well.

Wow all thsi time I thought it was always fro after effects, Thats why I never got that one, but I will look at that as well.
