compositing without frame edges

I want to flow one moving image over another at 50% value and try as I can with masks and what not, I stll see the square frame edges of the overlay image. How do I get rid ot that so the immage is more in the mode of a feathered-edge vignette? Thank you. Burt Wilson (tailgait)

Use track motion for flowing the image across and then use track FX to add a border effect and select a blurred for border.

If that doesn't look good enough for you, you can apply a mask to the smaller picture.
