Compression problem??

I have been trying to render a slide presentation for two
weeks now. The show is about 10 minutes long with music
(.wav) and some graphics. The slides are .jpg files. Every
time I try to render, it fills up the hard drive! It even
filled up a CD when I tried to render directly to the
burner. The documentation does not give me much help re
compressing files. I am trying to create a CD that I can
give as a gift to someone who has Windows 98, but not a lot
of other software. I wanted to do it as an .avi file, or
maybe a Quicktime--something they can view without having
to buy anything else. But I don't know which format to
render to, and if I did, how to compress it so it will all
fit on a CD. I must be missing something, but I can't
figure out what!!!!! Help!

You are probably rendering as "uncompressed" -this would
account for the huge file size. Perhaps you might try one
of the streaming formats (WMV, Real, or QT for Mac users)-
the "high bitrate" templates produce very high quality
video, and 10 minutes should fit on a CD. Make sure the end
user has an updated "player"- they can download them for
free from MSFT, Real, Apple.
