Computer Playback speed of MPG file?

I rendered a Vegas 11 (64 bit) track as a .mpg file for client and when he plays it on his computer (Windows Media Player) it plays normal for a minute and then races to the end. The mpg file is about 6GB. The same vagas track plays fine when burned to a dvd. Clients PC and my PC are Win7, 64 bit. Any idea why speed changes?

Could this increased speed be due to file size?

Wish someone would tell me what could possibly cause this problem. Is it something about Vegas or about the client's computer?

sounds like a codec issue to me; there's a lotta mpeg playback codecs out there that can do unexpected things.

try converting it to mp4 using HandBrake: i've gottten problematic mpeg2 files to play correctly by converting them in HandBrake.
