confused 32bit apps on 64bit os

Will all 32 bit apps run on 64 bit Windows 7? (if it is designed for Win7 that is)?

Other than memory access, are they other benefits for 64bit OS?

I am running 32 bit Windows 7 and am happy, but I have the 64 bit version. Just trying to figure out if it is worth the hassle to load it and reinstall everything.

Yes, they run fine. The only benefits are with running 64-bit apps in the 64-bit Win, and multiple 32-bit apps using memory spaces not available in 32-bit Win.

Some 32-bit plugins will not work in Vegas 64bit. For instance Noise Reduction 2.0. So... you may need to install and use the 32 bit version of Vegas to handle some plugins.

Yeah I have followed about the 32 bit plugins and I guess that was where I was getting confused. thanks

The decision also has to do with how much memory you have or plan to have in your system.

If you have less than 4GB you should stick with Windows 7 32-bit. While the 64-bit version will work, it has more overhead so you'll actually be better of with the 32-bit version.

If you have 4GB or more, then upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit will be beneficial and take advantage of your full 4GB and any additional memory you might add over that. 32-bit applications will still be limited to 2GB of memory each but you can run more of them.
