Confusion on rendering templates and formats

I have VMS Platinum 9.0b (build 92). When rendering for DVD Architect which are the preferred template and formats for viewing on a 1080i TV? I have been using *.AVI format and NTSC DV widescreen. When viewing the DVD I get Black space above and below the video. I would like to fill the screen. Any suggestions?

We need a little more information.
What type of footage are you rendering? HD or SD? What format?

I burn HD video to DVD (not blu-ray) successsfully by selecting:
Make Movie
Blu-Ray disc (even though burning to DVD!!)
Format Sony AVC
Blu-ray 1920x1080-50i, 10 Mbps video stream

This is for UK (PAL) so I guess in the US (NTSC) it would be -60i not -50i.
The result is full widescreen movie in HD. I am also going to try this with 16 Mbps to see if it gets even better ( and whether this works on a DVD disc). (FYI - I shoot with a Canon HF10)

However, for some reason I cannot re-import the .m2ts video file back into Movie Studio - any ideas?

Photon, just make sure
1. You use the right project properties
2. Tou are picking the right widescreen NTSC template
