Connect Hd 1.8 Is out!

Any one tried?

Connect HD version 1.8 offers:
Unique support for Redrock Micro's innovative "M2" Depth of Field lens adapter.
Algorithm enhancements to always maintain the highest compressed visual quality
More about Redrock Microsystems Innovative "M2": M2 allows cinema and still camera 35mm lenses to be used with Sony's HVR-Z1 to create incredible depth-of-field, angle of view, and focus typically found in high-end film productions. But the lens architecture of M2 causes HDV material to be recorded on tape upside down and reversed (left to right). During capture, and upon user selection, Connect HD automatically "flips" the video to its proper "rightside up" perspective.

More about our compressed visual quality algorithm enhancements: CineForm's acclaimed compressed visual quality just got better. While most of you will never notice the improvements, take satisfaction that we notice. In this release we offer enhanced visual quality in the following areas:

Overall Visual Quality and Efficiency: This last year we have spent substantial time optimizing our Prospect HD 10-bit compression algorithms. We are taking this opportunity to roll the results for many of those enhancements into Connect HD. What does this mean to you? Even higher visual quality with no increase in bitrate.

Chroma Upsampling, aka “Interpolation”: For those of you unaware, CineForm Intermediate interpolates MPEG's 4:2:0 color space up to a more traditional 4:2:2 structure to maintain additional chroma precision during post-production. We have enhanced our interpolation algorithms to yield even greater chroma fidelity. This is especially important for our customers doing color correction and compositing work in post.

No doubt their product keeps getting better.
Ive had 1.8 for a few weeks and it seems the scene detection has even gotten better.
I had a chance to use the Red Rock Adapter with the legendary Victor Milt at the VASST tour in Orlando Fl a couple of months back.
Really a great device, you could really get some awesome DOF shots.
We did a side by side with my FX 1 and a Z1 that SPot had set up with the adaptor. Very Cool indeed, I cant thank Spot and Vic enough for that day.
And it looks like that would definately save time using Cineforms enhancement so you dont have to use pan/crop to flip the image , thus slowing down or having to rerender the proxy for the proper pic orientation.

Hello epirb

Thanks for the reply!

Question when you upgraded to version 1.8 did it ask you to register
again?

I have vesion 1.5 to 1.7 and now it's asking to register version 1.8.

I thought you did not need to register again if you have a previous
version. Weird!

Did you follow the THAD procedure for those who bought v1.5. Since you started the previous thread I expect you did, but here is Thad's instruction. If you're running v1.7 you must have done this:

My bad! I fould this!

(PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING): We have updated a new security layer for Connect HD. Unfortunately this requires you to reactivate when you upgrade to v1.8. Following are instructions about how to perform the upgrade activation. You have 15 days to perform the activation while using the upgrade version without restriction. You might want to consider printing out or otherwise saving the following instructions.

Please use your original serial number when you submit your activation request.
Click ‘Start’
Select ‘All Programs’
Select ‘CineForm’
Select ‘HDLink’
When the CineForm Splash Screen appears, click ‘Request Activation’ and fill out the Activation request. Go to step 7. If your editing system does not have internet access, follow steps a-b below
Click the ‘Enter Activation’ button and write down the system code. Be sure to write it correctly and double check that you did not mistake 0 (zero) versus O (oh) or B versus 8
On any system with an internet connection, go to www.cineform.com/register.html Fill out the form using the system code you wrote down in step ‘a’ above. Go to step 7.
Once you have received your activation email from CineForm, Launch HDLink again.
When the CineForm Splash Screen appears, click ‘Enter Activation’. Copy and Paste the name and the key from the email you received.
You’re Activated!

So there has been a change. I never had to reactivate before.
Sorry did not take the time to read on there Website. I just downloaded and asumed it was the same procedure.
