connection device problem

Vegas does nor recognize my gl2 camera. it's been working fine for months and it didn't work today. I disconnected my external fire wire drive improperly and i tried to restart my pc and this problem began.

Does anyone know if windows has a way to reset the system to an earlier setting?

I would first go into the device manager and delete your firewire card and any devices from there. Then restart your computer and windows should find the card and re-install it the way it did when you originally installed it, then add your firewire drive and then your camera and everything *should* be fine.

Also Windows XP does have a restore feature that does let you restore your computer to an earlier date when things were working properly, but I don't think that would be helpful in this type of situation, it's more for programs that cause your computer to crash, not hardware problems.
