Consistant bomb in Vegas Audio

Kraig wrote on 11/10/2000, 10:43 AM
Perhaps this is common knowledge over here. I have Vegas
Audio (most recent? I got the CD this week from SF - I
think it's 2.0a).

When I record a relatively small amount of audio (about six
tracks of 24/44.1 for a minute) and press the stop button I
consistancy get a bomb. I have DR Watson files, my registry
settings, the machine data from the about box and the info
that Win98 SE reports under "details" available upon
request. Importing wave files from Cakewalk and playing
them back through Vegas works fine.

I'd like to use Vegas for a session I have tonight, but I
can't record with it. My only suspicion, and I haven't been
able to confirm or deny it, is that the temp files are going
to a drive with not enough space. I'll make another attempt
at it early this evening.

If anyone has suggestions to resolve this issue I'd love to
hear them.

Thanks in advance.

I believe other people have had this problem in the past when
recording multiple tracks over a length of 1 minute. I think that
problem has been fixed in the Vegas Audio 2.0b pre-release, which is
available in the downloads section.

Under Win98 I installed DirectX8 and the latest Delta 1010 driver and
the problem went away. I suspect it was the drivers that fixed it.

The bomb was in Vegas Audio's exe, not in driver code, or kernel code
or anyplace else. Coupled with the fact that Cakewalk could deal with
the old drivers, I suspect that part of the responsibility lies with
Vegas Audio, but the problem is resolved for now.

When 2.0b comes out I will definitely be upgrading to it. Thanks to
Brian and Sonic Foundry's tech support for their help.
