Consolidation of video/audio content

Could some-one tell me if it is possible to consolidate projects and trim the necessary clips then discard the unused source material. Premiere 6 does this storing a new copy of trimmed media in a new folder together with a project file. Very good for cleaning up a clogged disc without discarding critical material. I'm trialling Vegas Video with a view to buying it but need to know if features I'm accustomed exist in VV. On balance for the moment it seems VV has the edge over Premier 6 - has anyone done a feature comparison? Thanks John I

Once the edit is complete, just render it to a new .avi file and ALL of the source material can be discarded. You will have a single .avi file containing the material you edited. However, don't expect to edit it farther unless you take more footage out (i.e. a dissolve can't be removed!).

Thanks guys I'm finding there is very little that Premiere can do that Vegas can not. On the other hand the extensive support for audio and almost real time previews is a big plus in VV. Thanks again John I
