I installed VF on a custom system with a ANUS A7A266
motherboard with a AMD 1200Mhz 266 FSB CPU. Have 256MB DDR
memory and a ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon video card with 32MB.
System supports ultra high speed drives and I have a 80
wire IDE cable for the IDE interface.
I have tried to render over 8 home movies all MPG and each
one during the rendering process locks up my system. The
same mpg file causes a lock up at different points in the
file every time I try again. Can be a few minutes in, or
twenty or more. Every time my system freezes totally. Not
even a blue screen. Total lock up requiring a cold reboot.
A few times the lockup happened during editing prior to
rendering. I shut down all TSR's and as far as I can tell I
have the latest drives for ASPI and the Video card.
Tried Windows 98SE and Windows ME all with the latest
patches. I first suspected the processor may be running
hot, so I montoried with the ASUS probe software. Even
under load of rendering it never gets above 130 degrees. I
added a huge fan, which reduced the temp down to the low
120's and still lock up, lock up, lock up. I set up a swap
file of 1GB. The files are under 400MB.
No matter what I do I can not render a whole movie. At best
I can cut out a smaller section and get a video that runs
maybe five or six minutes. Large files simply won't render
and cause a lock up every time.
My sytem otherwise is rock solid. Only have problem trying
to get Video Factory to run.
