Let me make sure I understand what you are asking.

You make cut 1 and cut 2 and you want to select the material between those cuts and delete it using the Contour Shuttle. Is that your question?

If so, I have mine programmed to do that. I do not have it with me so I forgot how I set it up, but I can post my setup tonight if you are interested.

I think it required a couple of button pushes on the Shuttle to do it.

Thanks Dave that's exactly what I'm trying to do.
Select the section I want to delete just using the Contour Shuttle Express after I make the cuts.

I' ve developed carpal tunnel syndrome on my right hand and hope to use just the shuttle in my left hand to do simple edits and cuts.

Appreciate your help

I use Contour Shuttle Pro 2 in the left hand and mouse in the right.
With some practice you can learn to hack and slash with speed and and razor precision.
Woosh! Clank! Ping!
Great editing aid.
But a compliment to the mouse and keyboard I think.

I just realized that you are asking about the Express. I have both the Express and Pro. The express does not have many buttons, so you may not want to reprogram it.

But I believe there are Keyboard shortcuts that will do the same thing. Again, I will post the way I have mine setup and see if I can find the keyboard equivalent.

Here is what you need.

One button assigned to "I", one button assigned to "O". One Button for "SHIFT +Q" and a delete button.

It also helps to have a LEFT EDGE and RIGHT EDGE but you are probably out of buttons by now.

Position the cursor on the LEFT EDGE of the scene to delete and hit the "I" button. Position cursor on the RIGHT EDGE and hit the "O" button. Then hit the button assigned for "SHIFT + Q". This selects the region determined by the "I O" buttons, then delete.

Like I said, this is much easier with the Shuttle Pro.

I too have both, the Express came as a freebie with a keyboard. The Pro version is way better, that little circular thing tends to twist around too easily so which button goes with which finger shifts, right royal PIA. I could glue it to a lump of wood I guess or put stickier feet on it but seriously it's bigger sibling is worth the extra cost.
