Control File Numbering in Video Capture??

Vegas 6 -

Transferring film to video, going from camcorder to external HDD.

It's necessary to stop frequently to clear dust, check process, fix a broken splice, etc. Each stop and start generates a new avi file, with numbers being assigned sequentially. If I later delete any files, VEGAS will attempt to re-use any numbers missing from the sequence when I begin capturing the next day (or after a restart or closing and re-opening VEGAS).

For example - I delete file 004 during captures, then stop capturing with file 021. The next day, VEGAS numbers the first file 004, then follows with 022.

Is there any way to control the file number which VEGAS starts on in capture sessions?

Thanks,
RalphM

If you're erasing a file in the sequence, no. If you wait til you're done, it won't need to "fill the gap" with a new filename.

Thanks Spot,

Would be a nice feature to be able to designate starting numbers, but I guess I'll have to keep a paper list of files to be deleted until the capturing is complete.
