control levels on right and left channels

Hi. I am new to this version of Sony Vegas and can't find back old ways to do simple things.

How can I change the separate levels of my right and left stereo channel to help hide one overmodulated track? In fact I could want to do any effect separate and differen t to a right or left track. Isn't this possible from the timeline? This is usually so easy to do and I can't figure out, though I did see the "channels" in the main edit menu. Thanks.

Copy your audio track to another duplicate track. Right-mouse-button click on the audio in one of them and in the pop-up menu choose Channels / left only, and in the other choose right only. You now have the left channel on one track and the right channel on the other.

I would add that you would then need to adjust the track pan controls to full left and full right to keep the stereo image intact.

And if doing different FX on each channel things could end up very weird !

When choosing stereo file's L-R channels individually, by default the mono channel will be panned dead center, which for most dialog is where it should be. For instance, a lavaliere on one channel, a boom on the other.
