How about MIDI controllers? Since Vegas already works with
MIDI timecoding, how about getting it to respond to MIDI
triggers, much like Sound Forge? For those of you
unfamiliar with this, let me explain. Using MIDI
synchronization, it is possible to control many features of
Sound Forge by simple generating certain MIDI signals.
Using a standard Yamaha, Casio, or any other MIDI keyboard,
you can program C4 for play, D5 for pause, C#3 for stop,
etc. The nice thing is that it can be done with any MIDI
interface/input, so hardware manufacturers can make
controllers that are simply MIDI generators, allowing the
customer to program the keys to his liking in the software.
Instead of just responding to MIDI time code, Vegas should
allow for MIDI triggers, thus solving your problem. Sound
like a good idea?
Until they give us cntrlr, try a trackball mouse. That has
made my life easier...at first hard to get used to, but now
wouldn't trade it for anything. Get one with the
electronic eye or whatever they call it. It can't get
dirty and be slow. Plus it glows red and looks good, and
fits hand good. It's expensive but worth every penny. Mine
is a "microsoft explorer trackball" or something like that.
But....I'd still sure like to have a controller.
