In the old version of VF, I could save my project as a .wav file. I cannot figure out how to do this in 2.0. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Customer support said the program does this. Thanks, Susan
Click File / Make Movie / Write your movie to file on your disk. / Advanced Render...
Choose a directory and enter the File name: you wish to use for the output file.
Change the Save as type: to Wave (Microsoft) (*.wav) or MP3 Audio (*.mp3)
You may use a premade Template: or click on Custom to create your own settings.
Click Save.
Thank you so much! There are NO instructions for this anywhere that I could find! Can you please also tell me the best format to save for use on a cd and which to use for the Internet. This is for both demo commercials and a radio show. The show needs to be available on the web. I cannot thank you enough for your help. Susan
For burning to a CD you should probably use .WAV, 44.1KHz, 16 bit stereo.
For posting on a website, well, there are a lot of choices and dependancies. Both .MP3 and .WMA are close to universal, but .WMA restricts your audience to Microsoft Windows users. MP3 doesn't stream as well as WMA, but with most modern computers it streams well enough. The biggest consideration is bitrate. Lower bitrates result in smaller files that download faster or stream better, but the sound quality will be poorer. Higher bitrates will sound better, but will be larger files. You should experiment with several different bitrates and decide which is the lowest acceptable for your purpose. If it's only speech, you might be very happy with 16 or 32Kbps. If it's music, you might need to go as high as 64Kbps to have it sound reasonably good. However, if your listeners are using dialup, they will be happier if the rate is 34Kbps or less since higher bitrates will often result in pauses or excessive download times. Most online radio is willing to give up some quality in order to allow listeners a smoother audio stream.
