Converting audio to MP3 format

Here's what I need to do:

I am going to make a video, about 3-4 minutes in length. I need to convert only the audio to MP3 format and attach it to an email. What is the best way to accomplish this?

I know I can highlight and delete the video. I'm just stumped on the best way to get the audio into an MP3 format.

Thanks for the help.

File / Render As ... type in a file name, choose file type MP3, pick a template with the bitrate you want. I highly recommend clicking Custom and setting the quality level to the maximum. Click OK to render.

No need to delete the video since Vegas is smart enough to know that MP3 is audio-only.

Why not add the audio to the video and save/send the whole caboodle as a WMV or simialr ?

For this particular project, don't need the video portion at all, only the audio. I have saved the whole caboodle on other projects as WMV, though.

Thanks for the help...forums are great!

A bit of quick research confirms my guess that you would really be saving the whole "kit" -- meaning an aggregation of objects and supplies.

A "caboodle" (or "boodle") was used to refer to an aggregation of people.

Of course if you were to save the "whole kit and caboodle," you would be leaving nothing to chance. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/kit-and-caboodle.html

Hi Sir,

I have just started with the sony vegas 5.0 audio software.

I try to put echo and compressor to my vocals but I hear no effects added to it.

What shall I do.Do I need to have fx plugs in sotware for echo and delay on my computer so they work?

Regards and do reply.

Great Day!
