Converting back to 24p

I have a movie that was shot on 24p, archived onto BetmaxSP, and sent to me on a DV tape from the Beta master. I was told since it was originally shot in 24p I can bring it back to it's awesome film look. Someone gave me a tutorial in Premier but I couldn't understand it. Is such a thing possible with Vegas or does anyone have a more simple explination? Thanks in advance.

If it was shot in 24p it'll always be 24p. All that's happened to it is pulldown has been added so it'll 'fit' into the NTSC standard of 60i, doing this has not altered the 'film look' of the original footage.

You can possibly remove the pulldown to get back to 24fps in Vegas but there's not a huge advantage in doing this as you got to add the pulldown again to go out to video. There is a minor difference in how things looks IF you apply FXs at 24 fps and then apply pulldown compared to applying pulldown and the applying the FXs.

I'm a PAL guy so 24p is of only academic interest to me but the thing I'm uncertain about is if you need to have had any flags preserved to ensure that when you remove the pulldown (also called inverse telecine) to ensure that the fields are correctly converted back into their original frames.

Magic Bullet sells a several hundred dollar program that will make 30i 24p again so I am pretty sure it should be a pretty big difference?
