Cookie Cutter

Can someone please explain to me how to use the cookie cutter effect. I am new to Sony Vegas and I am really confused. I was also wondering what the mask generator is? Is that the same thing as masking? Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

Place your video on one track
place another video or media generated background on track below.

Select cookie cutter effect and place on the top track.

Cookie cutter will punch a hole and reveal the bottom track in the shape that is selected in the cookie cutter effect.

You can also add a boarder or feather the cookie cutter shape.
