Shhh....we're still testing, so you may see it jump back and forth between the old site and the new.

Hi Spot -

Definitely like the new look - Works a whole lot better and quicker too in FireFox!

I never was excited by the black look before.

Only issue I see on my system is that the giant "play" button (upper left of the screen) covers up the first two menu items below. I'm running FireFox 1.5.0.1.

what resolution are you running???? I would guess that it's designed for 1024x768 or higher.

...1024x768 or higher.

I'm sure Dave's right. That's my screen res and it looks good to me.
BTW, Firefox is now at 1.5.0.2. It came out yesterday or the day before.

Nice look on the VASST site!

Taking an idea from gamespot.com , you could have two versions of the site, and have users click a button to apply the "skin" of choice, eg sleek silver or pro black look..

Overall the new look is better, though nav buttons shouldn't be 3 layers deep imo ... too hard to click to get to what you need...

Nice work on it. Very professional!

To get to Vegas training DVDs, for instance, the user has to mouseover

a) Training DVDs
then
b) Sony Media Software
then
c) Click on the Vegas button

a minor usability point ... the less clicks/mouseovers needed, the better.

Overall I like the new professional look of the site very much.

ahh i thought maybe you meant that menus were expanding horizontal rather than vert - i was gonna say I'm not having that problem

I have my browsers set at 600x800, since I work on some websites and need to make sure that everything I do looks good in a browser set to those dimensions...

The Vasst home page has the silver header letters locked to the left margin, with the menu locked to the right margin. If you shrink the browser to 800 pixels horizontally, the silver play button covers up the menu items as they slide underneath.

It's a nice layout, but anyone using a 600x800 size will have this issue. Just a thought...

I personally think that it's probably safe to require 1024x768, especially since their target market is a bunch of technophiles that are editing on screens as big as they can get'em :)

I agree. I make sure my websites function under 640x480, but i won't guarantee they'll look pretty at anything under 1024x768.
