I realize that this is probably childs play for alot of you but I just discovered that I can subtlety manipulate my lighting in post quite effectively. I export a still image of video into photoshop, create a new layer, Choose the gradient tool and pick the tranparent gradient setting (in the upper left drop down menu) Now draw some gradients to create suttle shadow effects where the light is too bright (I had an interview that was too lit up). By zooming out on the canvas you can start your gradient farther away from the edge of the image for more subtle fades. Then save as a .png and drop on the track above your clip and walla. Looks great. I imagine you could even blur the shadow to create some depth of field.
