Copy and Paste Track

I'm using V5 and according to help I should be able to copy and paste a track by selecting a track (just click on the track label area), press cntl-c, and paste using ctnl-v. But, it doesn't work. I only get the last item(s) I copied into the copy buffer, not the whole track I selected.

The reason I need a track is that I have quite a few keyframes set at the track motion level (not clip level) that I need copied into another project (running in another Vegas instance).

Here's the limited reference to "copy track" found in V5 help:

Copy tracks
Select the tracks you want to copy and click the Copy button (or press Ctrl+C). The selected tracks are copied to the clipboard.

Paste tracks
Select a track and then click the Paste button (or press Ctrl+V). The tracks from the clipboard are inserted above the currently selected track.

Or, alternately, does anyone know how to copy and paste the attributes from track motion (not just the clip)?

Any suggestions?

Jim

Did you try to right click the track header and chose "Duplicate track" This might be a typo in the docs...

Also try before you copy and paste to save everything first. Maybe that will help.

I'm wanting to copy and paste the tracks between open VEG projects. But, regardless, the copy / paste doesn't work even in the same project as the help documents indicate it should...

Hmm I see,

I have never been aware this was possible.

Have you tried clicking on the first event in the track and right clicking and selecting "select events to end" and then copying and pasting?

As a work around, in V6, you can save that track as a veg and import it back into theoriginal project

within a vegas project, duplicate track is what you want. Copy and paste does not work for a track, but does work for an event.

Not sure about between projects.

No big deal. I ended up just manually copying and pasting keyframes from the Track Motion timeline over to the new project. Didn't take too long.

I guess the Vegas V5 help must be documenting a feature that never materialized...
