'Copy media with project' Not trimming .M2TS fil

Vegas pro 9,

Is the trim function not usable with the m2ts files?

I have always found this function to be very handy, it worked fine with .avi and my previous DV projects.

When saving project with media, Vegas trimmend and only saved the files that were used on the timeline. But Vegas doesn't do that with the m2ts files (Camera HXR NX5).

I only use some 'seconds' of the 'minutes' long files and dont want to waste space saving them.

Thanks for any reply,

No, Vegas will not trim M2TS files.

Thanks John,

I shall then try to keep the clips under 10 minutes during the shoot.
That will keep the final saved files small.

1 hour = 11gig , 10 min = around 1.8 gig.

Also the provided software from Sony (Content Management Utility) doesn't have any cutter or scene detection function.

Try VideoRedo h264 edition to trim your files. It has a free trial.

Thanks musicvid,

I shall give that a try. It’s better to trim the clips before placing them on the timeline.

Re-matching the events on the timeline after the edit is too time consuming.

I miss the good old ‘scene detection’ function when capturing : -).
