copy pan / zoom move?

ushere wrote on 4/27/2014, 2:39 AM
is there a 'simple' way of copying a precise zoom rate (or pan, etc) from one clip to another.

eg. i have 6 stills of equal length that i want to do constant zooms in to.

as it is i can either work off numbers in position width / height or alternatively i can save positions and then call them up as keyframes.

any other 'quicker' method?

Assuming that you are using "Event Pan/Crop", back click on the clip with the zoom/pan settings that you want to use, select "Copy" and then back click on the target clip/s and select "Paste Event Attributes". The Event Pan/Crop settings will now have been copied to the other clip/s.

oh dear gents, it appears to have been another senior moment.

thank you all for your indulgence - it really is appreciated.

btw, (grazie), this time i actually have different fx on each clip which i don't want copied, just pan/zoom. it would be nice to have a menu on the paste to specify what is actually pasted....

That's been something just about everybody on this forum has been calling for, for years. My previous NLE (MSP) had that sooooooo long ago. Crazy that Vegas can't do it.

Copy of pan/zoom only (and reset) is part of Vegasaur. Probably the most useful Vegas 'buy' I've ever purchased.

I just open up the pan/crop window of an event, select the keyframes I want to copy, then paste then in the pan/crop window of the other event. Just like word. :) It's been like this as far as I can remember (you can copy/paste any keyframes).

Don't forget that if you paste keyframes & they would go beyond the second event, they will all "pile up" at the last frame.

does vegasaur work in 13 - i thought i read it didn't and that peach rock wasn't looking to upgrade it (unfortunately)?

This thread brings up something that's been raised before, and deserves rekindling.

When we Paste Event Attributes, it would be so good to be able to CHOOSE which ones we add - All or Selected Attributes only - this may be a horrendous thing to program, and if so I'll stop hoping for it - but as an editor, not a programmer, I don't know whether it would be easy or hard.

@ushere:
The latest version of Vegasaur (1.9.4) does work in VP13

More dialogs could bog down editing flow, might be why it isn't included. It might be nice, BUT I would hate having a dialog popup every time I try to copy/paste attributes.

In my workflow, I either copy one at a time if it's a small amount, or I copy all & change the ones I don't want. A feature like this wouldn't be much of a timesaver for me.

I think it would safe a lot of time when you forgot something or want to make changes after the fact, especially if the events have different FX settings. I personally use Vegasaur but it would be nice to have it inside a right click menu similar to MS Excel which has the option of PASTE and PASTE SPECIAL.

+1 to what OldSmoke said. I've stopped counting the times when my boss says to me "I like it but I need you to change the font you used" and I have 30 or more title events on my timeline :(
Being able to paste only the new font attribute would be a HUGE time saver for me.

"More dialogs could bog down editing flow". I never found that to be the case. The way this was implemented in Media Studio Pro, (If my memory serves me well!) was when you right clicked to paste attributes, you were given an option of 'Append' or 'Replace'. If you chose to 'Append' you could then choose which attributes/effects that you wanted to add, or just click 'All' in which case all of the copied attributes would be pasted. Very easy, I miss it. :-(

Timeline Tools has a Property Page editor that lets you make Global Changes to any and all Events that are either highlighted in the utilities main display grid, or selected in the chosen Track. The Default Keyframe Pan/Crop Size and Position settings control Zooming.

If your text is done with the Titles and text plug-in, then Vegasaur has a tool which will let you alter any specific property of any number of text events all at once.
