Copy/Paste Across Projects

I need to copy/paste some a section of clips between two projects. I select the clips and do a "copy". They are on the clipboard and can be pasted into the current project. But when I open the other project, "Paste" is grayed out. Is this working as designed (VV 3.0)?

If this is truly the way they thought it should work, what is Plan B to get clips from one project to another? Hopefully, the answer isn't to start over with all the raw clips.

Copy from the source, but then open another instance of Vegas. By that I mean, click your Vegas icon or what ever you do to start Vegas, now you will have 2 running. Open the other project in the second instance. You can copy and paste between them to your heart's content. I even put an icon to vegas in my quick launch area so I can open a second instance of Vegas quickly with one click just for this purpose!
