copy/paste from one instance of vegas to another

Hi all,

So I am sure this has been asked a 1000 times before and I tried to search for it but couldn't find anything so here it goes.Pretty simple...

I am copying/pasting an intro that I made in another instance of vegas to the first one that I opened. My intro has compositing in it , effects , text etx...

Everything gets copied ok but all my compositing is gone , I have to do them all over again

Anybody got any ideas

Thanks

There are certain bits that don't copy over - you've guessed it! G

I believe you can paste event information, but not track information.

Yup! That's the logic, and it DOES make sense, in one way, but truly infuriating in another way.

At times, having "seen" something I really liked that I've done in a HUGE project, maybe only 4 secs, I've copied that project and called it MyProj2.veg .. opened that up and deleted everything EXCEPT for that 4 seconds! Now I'm off and running with that.

Ok, perhaps we should give Vegas a break here and state that this IS a terrific package and maybe there are "other" ways of skinning this feline ...

How about making Presets of stuff? These Presets ARE available within "other" projects. How about saving Text Presets? These too can be opened in other projects as they become globally available. Hell, I had a Text Preset that I designed in VideoFActory! And that appeared by itself in Vegas 3 when I jumped up to the BIG package! Tell you what .. it blew me off my edit chair . . I thought Xmas had come early!

I'm trying here!

My belief is that there is a lot of mileage in presets. No, they aren't as intuitive as the way we know and love to work within Vegas - but they are there.

I guess too that the options for "bringing" in whole Tracks maybe on the agenda of the Boffins at Madison - but I really don't know ... I would like to think that it was possible .. but I don't know.

Look, we have come to expect a certain level of "ease" with Vegas - TOO RIGHT! - it is a fab and fun package. But what comes with this experience is that I/we/us expect that these things should be drilled through the whole platform .. Well, things take time. Maybe a request to the Sony peeps to at least exp[lore this function would not be untimely?

In the meantime have a real look at presets and salvaging! - Oh, you may wanna start creating those presets anyway. If you save them as part of Preset Manager and file them away you can then re-invoke them when you may need to reinstall Vegas! Creating a preset - as you've found - is time consuming and part of the creative process that is at the core of what we all do - NOT saving the same as a Preset is well ... silly to day the least. Make Presets! Lots of them! Manage them with Preset manager and make backups of those presets and store on a floppy, cd or anything!

Ok .. I'll get off me Preset Manager Box now . ..
