Copy .vf files and media files

Somewhere in this forum - about a month or more ago, someone asked about copying the .vf files and the media files into a new folder. I do this in Adobe Indesign and it is great. Currently I have a large working folder of media items (mostly jpg and png) that are used for more that 20 different .vf files. I would like to pull up my .vf file and then be able to save it and the media into a separate folder.

I am using Studio Platium 7. I don't remember if operation can only be done in Vegas 6/8 pro or can it also be done in Studio platium 7.

I am planning on buying Vegas 8 but would like to be able to do it in my current software.

thanks for help

If the Studio version has this function it will be under File / Save As, check the box that says "copy media with project".

Personally i don't like this function. It messes with the files, splits the audio into separate files and saves them as .w64 instead of .wav which can't be opened in any thing but Sony's software, and renames all the files. If i had less than 100 clips in my project i'd be tempted to perform this manually.

Much better yet, for future projects, start off by creating a new folder specifically for each project to begin with, then save/move everything for that project in that folder.

Chienworks,

Thanks for suggestions.
The studio version doesn't have "copy media with project"

I'll take your suggestion for future projects. I don't like what you say the "copy Media" does. I say this because I am going to upgrade to Vegas 8 pro.

Thanks again for your help.

SVMS6 and SVMS8 have the option to "copy and trim media with project" when you do a saveas. I don't own v7 but it would surprise me that only v7 doesn't have it. However, if you don't like the way it works, then it's a moot point.
