I'm not that fond of the 'copy media with project' function. Personally i'd just copy all the files manually. Of course, it helps if you've set up folders for each project as you go and keep everything related to that project in it's own folder. Then all you have to do is drag that one folder to the external drive.

Thanks. I do do that but thought the 'Save source files' facility was exactly what I needed.

It does move over everything ok - I have just had the problem with nested projects.

I am now considering to do what you suggest but the problem is that on a wedding video project there is loads of video clips that are discarded, so you are copying many Gbs of not used files.

It's a shame though that Vegas cannot seem to do what it should be able to - that is save all used portions of clips in one folder.

Well, another way to look at it is that Vegas is probably successfully moving all the media files used in that .veg file. If you have nested projects then you probably have to open each one in turn and do the save again.
