Since there's always discussion about copyright issues on this forum, I thought I'd post a link I came across. I'm using an old piece of audio that had passed in to the public domain but I still did some research just to be sure.
Hey, did you ever hear of the case where MGM sued Nintendo over Donkey Kong (back in the early 80's)? MGM said that Nintendo was violating the copyright on their peoperty (King Kong: MGM said that "Donkey Kong" was a deliberate rip). Nintendo was just a small japanise company back then, just came over to the US to do work (and bring video games back into the main stream in the US).
Anyway, MGM offered Nintendo a settlement. Nintendo look at the offer. After several days they said they will goto court. Nintendo was smart. :) They found out that someone sued MGM several years before for violating someone elses copyright of King Kong. MGM proved that King Kong was in the public domain, which Nintendo used against them. :)
