Is the benefit in Vegas of dual core CPU the same with
Intel centrino dual core for lap tops as for desk top dual core CPUs?
I must answer Dell tomorrow , they have given me a great offer.
I usually work with Vegas on a desk top but have the need for a lap top and had thought of just get a cheap one for other work than video.
Dell wants 870 dollars for a lap top with
Dual core Centrino T2600
1 Gb RAM
60 GB SATA HD (I have 3 external HD)
DVI out
17" WXGA
Win XP Media center Edition
Is this a bargain?
I think it is in Sweden but I don´t know how that sounds for you in USA ?
So is such a lap top suitable even for Vegas work?
Regards

Running Vegas on a laptop works well. I just don't know what benefits the Core Duo line will bring to this environment.

I just got a Sony VAIO SZ series Pentium Core Duo (1.8ghz). I'm expecting it to match or beat the rendertest result of my Vaio Desktop (PentiumD 3.0ghz).

The Core Duos are based on the Pentium M's and the Pentium M's are notoriously fast for their clock speed. My old 1.6 Pentium M was within a few seconds in the Render Test of my 3.0gzh Pentium 4! A dual 1.8 should be smokin' fast. I'll try and find the rendertest VEG and run it on the new laptop.

Thanks! If possible, let us know what the result of the rendertest is.
