CoreAVC 1.8 and Sony Vegas 8.0c

Folks,

this may be a very dumb question but I'm only two weeks into the HD game and still have a lot to learn.

I have CoreAVC Pro 1.8 and have added it as an external filter to Media Player Classic and that works just great.

Is there a way to force Vegas 8.0c or any flavor for that matter to use the CoreAVC codec to enhance the decoding preview playback?

I would imagine that some sort of dll would have to be registered with Vegas Pro in order to get this to work - not sure if that is possible.

I thought that perhaps checking the "Preferred Codec" checkbox in the CoreAVC settings would have some effect but I see no difference in the preview playback in Vegas either way. This is without applying any filters/corrections/etc.

It's not that the playback in Vegas is "bad" on my machine. It's fairly smooth. But the playback using Media Player Classic and CoreAVC Pro with the same MTS file is smoooooth as silk... never dropping a frame.

Just seemed like there should be a way for Vegas to use that same codec for playback in some way or another.
