Correct places of "save in"&"compilation&

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask if I'am on the right way!

All the files related to the project are located at an external hard disc, WD, connected to my Vaio with USB 3.0 and when rendering, I chose, "save in : desktop"

Is it ok?

Or should save in to another external hard disk??
or maybe, the files should be located at Vaio's "C" and I have to save to WD when rendering?

The rmp's of the external hard disc do they really matter? Should I prefer 7200 rmp instead of 5400?

Thanks in advance.

Personal preference: never ever use "desktop" for anything for any reason whatsoever. Pick a specific directory on a specific drive, create your project there, save all the source files there. When you render also pick a specific directory on a specific drive. It can be the same directory as your project and source if you want, but if you want to save a few seconds while rendering then a different drive is preferable.

I wouldn't use drive C: for any projects, source, or rendering. If you only have one other hard drive then use that one for both source and render.

5400 isn't really as slow as a lot of folks seem to believe. It will work just fine. Speed of the drive can affect how fast the rendering goes, but it won't change how well the render works.
