Correct settings for video capture

I have been using sony for 6 months. Import video to edit however I loose some of the quality of the video. The image will break up and sometimes the sound will not sync. I hope that capturing the video directly into sony will solve this problem. I have tried to capture video into sony with no success. Can anyone tell what settings I should use. I have a CanonFs10. It automatically captures with the image mixer software that came with the camera.

You should not use the Image Mixer software to capture this video.

For best results, attach your camcorder to your computer with a USB cable, turn it on to VTR and use the Vegas Movie Studio Device Explorer to import the video to your computer.

This is a standard DV video camcorder. You should be able to edit it with standard DV settings.

I have tried this with the same results. Tells me that the device is not connected. Have tried to insert sd chip and upload into vegas still unable to capture video into vegas. I think I need to change some settings. Any clue what setting I should have the program set at to capture.

You may be using incompatible media.
Check your camcorder's web site for a list of tested media.
