Correcting a mirror image in both vertical & horiz. planes

I plan to video the emulsion surface of film backlit in a projector. The image is not only upside down but reversed as if seen through a mirror. This is because this image is corrected normally by the projector lens. Does Vegas Studio version have a filter to correct both of these reversed images ? ( not necessarily in the same step.) The purpose for this question is that I plan to do film transfers to DVD's. Also, is there any loss of image quality?

In Video event Pan/Crop you can right-mouse-button click on the frame and choose Flip horizontal or Flip vertical. Note that if you are filming the emulsion side then you will be getting a mirror image in one dimension. If the image is upside down then it is already correct left to right, so you would only flip vertically. I suppose you could mount the camera upside down and then it would be correct vertically and only need to be flipped left to right. In any case, filmiing the emulsion side leaves you with an image that only needs to be flipped in one direction.

Loss of image quality? There is always a loss of image quality when transferring from one medium to another. You can take steps to minimize the loss, but most of the steps are very costly in materials, equipment, software, and time. What you probably mean to ask is whether the loss in quality is acceptable or not. Assuming you have good optical equipment and a good camera and all are set up properly then probably the biggest loss will be from the MPEG encoding. Using a higher bitrate will help. Using a hardware encoder that can optimize each scene separately will help more.

If you're asking if there is any loss in image quality by flipping the frame, then the answer is no, there isn't.
