Corrupt Project

Get this message after project gets 29% loaded:

"An error occurred while loading the project file. The file could not be created. Another file with that name exists."

Found no duplicate file names. Renaming the folder with the video clips caused this message to appear after the project loaded to 0%. Uninstalled and went back to Vegas 5.0a with the same result.

System: P4 3.2, ASUS P4C800, etc.

Any ideas?

Guy

could you get a copy of the project up so people can see it? Maybe it's trying to write a temp file or something.

Your, "Uninstalled and went back to Vegas 5.0a with the same result." . .I'm assuming you are/were using V5b . . correct? . .. Hmmm... I'm gonna wait a bit longer . . I have the same mobo and chip .. .

Nope, not from me . . I'm attempting to earn a living from what I do. If I know something needs tweaking .. I've got patience to wait a bit longer for stuff to be ironed out . . . . Patience IS a virtue, esp when fishing . . . no matter what piscatorial fauna you choose - yeah? Red or . . red . ..

How/where can I get a copy of the project up for others to see?

FYI, one bit of information I neglected to include in my previous post: I had moved two still image files after closing the project. I didn't hesitate to do this because Vegas 4 never had a problem with this sort of thing.

Subsequent to my last post, I renamed the the folders containing the media used in the project to see how that would affect the project loading. The only folder that had any effect was the video folder; renaming that folder caused the project to return the error message after loading 0% of the project.

Before I last closed the project I was experimenting with masks on generated media. In doing this, I made duplicates of the generated media files, choosing to create a new copy of the generated media rather than a reference to the original event. I wonder if this could be the source of the problem?

Yes, version 5b.

Nothing like this ever happened with Vegas 4.0.

Guy, here it is at: http://www.vegasusers.com/testbench/veggies/guy-navitx_01.veg

I get the same error:

"An error occured while loading the project file guy-navitx_01.veg.
The file could not be created. Another file with that name exists."

Thanks, any ideas? Any way I might be able to get this uncorrupted?

This issue concerns me greatly. The software simply needs to not corrupt files, else it's not suitable for a professional environment.

I took a look at your veg file and am emailing you a repaired file.

Somehow you were able to create two media bins with an identical name of "Images" and Vegas would not load your project as a result. I'll add this to our bug database.

This was unexpected.

You have greatly exceeded my expectations.

I cannot thank you enough for your time and effort.
