Corrupt .vef File

Hi, I've been using Vegas Pro 17 for a few years. I'm presently in the midst of a long project and I've just been confronted with this corrupted file messages when I tried to load my file to do some more work:

"An error occurred while loading the project file ....... .veg. The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format".

I'm running Windows 11 Home version 23H2

Is my project a lost cause? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Copy/paste the "projectname.veg.bak' file, rename the project name and delete '.bak' - then try opening the newly created .veg file. This may (or may not) open the project in Vegas Pro 17.

It's a good idea to regularly rename project names (e.g. projectname1.veg, projectname2.veg, projectname3.veg and so on) so as an earlier .veg file can be used if something goes wrong with the current .veg file - even though some editing will need to be repeated, it avoids the need to start the whole project from the beginning again.
