After going through several revisions of a disk, I made few simple text changes and then prepared it again allowing smart prepare. Then I burned a test copy. To my surprise, none of the buttons on the start menu would highlight. It also displayed various other pages instead of the correct start page on a cheaper DVD player.

The solution turned out to be re-preparing the project for burning. This can be done by using a different folder, or by turning off smart prepare. It forces it to rebuild everything instead of reusing corrupted data.

Just thought I'd post this solution, since I wasn't able to find it on here already.
