Talk about a great deal, bhphotovideo.com is now offering the full Vegas 6 for a mere $99! Good to mention to family/friends to buy it here, for about the same price as movie maker:

that's far less than Sony charged for an upgrade from V5 to V6. What a deal!

Just in case you were wondering.

It is a CD disk only. NO box or manual. It does not say if it includes any extras such as Boris ltd or AC3.

still good for the free upgrade to V7 and it will be $50 cheaper since you bought it within 30 days of V7 release.

p@mast3rs,

Is what you are saying a sure thing? If so, then I may buy it.

that would be good to know, eg is this a fully registered/legit version that sony will recognize for upgrades to v7?

also fyi I posted that link on a couple of busy marketing forums, so it may sell out soon

with deals like this, it encourages me to wait and not buy new releases immediately; plus letting others find/fix bugs vs early adoption.. eg good thing I waited for V6, to learn from you all to not install media manager, that was a plus.

That manufacturer part # is not sold by anyone else on the web. All other Vegas versions are either sv6000 or svdvd6000. That part # is sv6000dvd. Makes me think it is a special edition.

From what it looks like this is just Vegas 6 and not Vegas 6+DVD.

Also here is what a retailer has said: In the meantime we have gotten official word that anyone buying Vegas6+DVD from August 10th or later will be entitled to a free upgrade to both Vegas 7 and DVD Architect 4

So before people go off and buy this $99 version of Vegas you had better check with Sony directly because it sounds like you have to get Vegas+DVD in order to get the free upgrade, getting Vegas 6 only may not cut it.

Still, either way, it's a good deal for those that don't already have Vegas 6, whether the upgrade path is available or not.

Yeah, Videoguys has that up.

It seems that Sony has confirmed that Vegas will be released at IBC.

Also check this out, Safe Harbour is doing a demo day Oct 5th for you Wisconsinites.

Apparently the 7.0 version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio has hit some store shelves.

"It seems that Sony has confirmed that Vegas will be released at IBC."

And IBC runs from 9/7 through 9/12 and Sony always seems to release software on Mondays which would place Vegas 7's release on 9/11. Yikes! At least there will be something good about that day.

I'm interested in finding out whether render speeds will be improved by Vegas 7's supposed ability to take advantage of multi-thread CPU processing, that would be significant.

And a better titler.
