The screenshot you are referring to is a bit of a misnomer, but true, it doesn't look at all like Vegas. Different department of Sony, different developers, developed LONG before Vegas became a part of the Sony clan.
Different market, different workflow.
But....as outlined in the back of the Vegas 5 Editing Workshop, the two work together WONDERFULLY. MUCH better than AAF or OMF. Sweet system. Fast system. That said.....
HDV is pretty damed impressive. Is it HDCam? Nope. But oooh sooo niiiiccceeee!!!!!

We're thinking pretty seriously about one, there's a forum for XPRI over at COW.
Seems early releases were pretty buggy but latest stuff is pretty solid. Of course it's not going to look much like Vegas, none of the high end gear looks like Vegas or FCP or PP for that matter. It's a very different world once you get into the likes of Smoke and XPRI.

Oprah's production company bought a 4 bay system for $2.5M and they seemed pretty impressed. Lets them keep editing only a few minutes ahead of what's going to air, don't know if I could handle that kind of stress.

But those XPRI shuttle controllers look pretty cool, wonder if I could get one to work with Vegas?

Bob.

Getting the base functions of the controllers to work is no big thing, no. Getting the proprietary stuff such as direct code input on the control is not there, unless you mapped it as a keyboard USB device.
Just out of curiousity, what would you (and anyone else) feel is a fair price for similar control in Vegas in terms of hardware?
