Couple of Questions

New to this so hopefully these aren't to ignorant of questions

1. I have just finished editing my video and it totals almost 2 hrs. I want to copy it to VHS tape. Is it possible to render and copy my video straight to VHS tape by connecting my Camcorder up to my firewire port on my PC and my AV connectors to my VCR?
If this is impossible, I already copied the video to DV tape. Problem is when the tape runs out after 90minutes VV keeps on running. How can I properly copy a 2 hour video to DV tape using 2 tapes and then to VHS?

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, most camcorders will allow you to convert Firewire DV video to analog. You should easily be able to run the analog outputs of your camcorder to the inputs of the VHS VCR and use the camcorder as a stand-alone D/A converter.

You have three options:

1) Record the program to an 83 minute MiniDV tape in LP mode (will handle 2 hours)

2) Select the first half of the program and record that to a 60 minute MiniDV tape. Then select the second half of the program and record that to another 60 minute MiniDV tape.

3) Use a deck that can handle full size DV tapes (multiple lengths available)

or just get a a/v dv converter
then you can go from your computer right into your vcr
this way you don't have to worry about time limits
they are like $300
i have a sony--it works great

Some DV cameras will act as a D/A passthru if there is no tape in them. DV in, Analog out to your VHS machine.
